Services / Emergency Response

Storm, fire, and damage response.

Priority response to events that have disturbed bonded — or made previously-bonded ACM friable — through storm damage, fire, contractor accident, or vehicle impact. Because Elite holds both A-Class and B-Class licences, we can handle the damage as one job regardless of whether it stayed bonded or became friable. Site contained, material removed, paperwork for your insurer.

If it just happened — what to do now

  1. Keep everyone out of the area. Including pets. Especially children.
  2. Don't clean up. No sweeping, vacuuming, hosing, or moving pieces around. All of those make it worse.
  3. Don't touch broken material. Even bonded ACM, once broken, has loose fibres at the edges.
  4. Photograph from a safe distance for the insurance file.
  5. Call us. We'll advise immediate containment by phone and book a site attendance.

Common emergency scenarios

  • Hail through an old cement-sheet roof. Cracked or punctured sheets, fragments in the yard.
  • Tree branch through eaves or wall. Broken ACM exposed; structural and asbestos response needed in sequence.
  • Fire-affected structures. Heat-damaged ACM is more friable than the original bonded form — needs careful handling.
  • Vehicle into an ACM fence. Broken panels, contaminated dirt and grass.
  • Contractor accidentally cuts into ACM. Electrician or plumber hits an unexpected ACM sheet — site stop, containment, controlled removal.

Emergency response — FAQs

What counts as an asbestos emergency? +
Anything that's unexpectedly disturbed or exposed bonded asbestos — storm damage to an old roof, a tree limb through eaves, a car into an ACM fence, fire-affected structures, or accidental contractor damage during other work. The defining feature is that the material has been disturbed and needs containing or removing before normal use of the site resumes.
How fast can you actually attend? +
We aim to respond to genuine damage events as a priority — typically a site assessment within 24–48 hours of the call, faster where it's safe to do so. We don't promise the same hour or 'after-hours guaranteed' because either we'd be lying or we'd be cutting corners. For most damage events, the immediate priority is keeping people out of the area, which we can advise on by phone.
What should I do before you arrive? +
Keep people away from the area. Don't sweep, vacuum, or try to clean up — that just spreads fibres. Don't touch broken pieces. If there's risk of further damage (a sheet of roof still loose in wind), photograph from a safe distance for the insurance file but don't go up. We'll handle containment when we arrive.
Do you work with insurers on damage claims? +
Yes. Our quote, scope, and completion documentation are structured to slot directly into an insurance claim file. We can liaise with your insurer's loss adjuster on scope and pricing if helpful. Always check whether your policy needs you to notify them before remediation work starts.
Are you available 24/7? +
No — and we'd be careful of any operator who claims they are unless they're a large team with shift coverage. We operate priority response during business hours and extended hours during severe weather events. For a true after-hours hazard, the right first step is to isolate the area and call us at 7am.
