Services / Asbestos Disposal

Licensed asbestos disposal.

Asbestos waste is the part of the job most operators are quietest about — because the legal obligations are heaviest there. We transport and dispose of ACM under licence, at licensed facilities, with paperwork at every step.

How we handle asbestos waste

  • Sealed and labelled at point of removal — heavy-duty 200μm polythene, double-wrapped, labelled to AS 1216 standards.
  • Loaded under controlled conditions — secured for transport, no damage to packaging in transit.
  • Transported under licence — appropriate vehicle, signage, and waste tracking documents matched to the load.
  • Disposed at a licensed facility — only at sites with an approved asbestos disposal cell. Weighbridge docket recorded on the job file.
  • Documentation issued — disposal receipts and waste tracking returned with your job paperwork.

What ends up where

Bonded asbestos cement waste goes to dedicated asbestos cells at licensed landfill facilities. The cells are designed to keep ACM permanently isolated — separated, layered, capped — to prevent future disturbance.

In SEQ the main facilities accepting asbestos include Swanbank Renewable Energy and Resource Recovery Area (Ipswich), Browns Plains Landfill (Logan), and others depending on material type and volume. We choose the appropriate facility for each job.

Asbestos disposal — FAQs

Where does asbestos waste go? +
To a landfill facility specifically licensed to accept asbestos. In SEQ that means designated cells at facilities such as Swanbank (Ipswich), Browns Plains (Logan), New Chum, and others depending on volume and material. We hold (or partner for) the transport licence and use the appropriate facility for the job.
Why can't asbestos go to a regular tip? +
Asbestos requires controlled handling, special wrapping, dedicated waste cells, and chain-of-custody documentation. Putting it in regular waste is illegal under the Environmental Protection Regulation, exposes other workers and the public, and creates a liability trail back to whoever generated it.
Can I take my own DIY-removed asbestos to a tip? +
In Queensland a homeowner can legally remove up to 10sqm of bonded asbestos and dispose of it themselves — but only at a facility that accepts domestic asbestos waste, only when wrapped and labelled correctly, and only after booking with the facility (you can't just turn up). Most homeowners find the disposal logistics alone are more expensive and time-consuming than having us handle the whole job.
What documentation do I get for disposal? +
Weighbridge dockets from the receiving facility, our waste tracking record, and a disposal summary in your job paperwork. For commercial and industrial jobs this slots into your asbestos register and contractor compliance file.
Can you do disposal only, without removal? +
Sometimes. If a builder, electrician, or another tradesperson has already removed bonded ACM and just needs licensed disposal, we can quote a transport-and-disposal-only job — but only when the material is already properly wrapped, labelled, and contained. We won't pick up loose or improperly contained ACM.
