What we remove from homes

If your home was built or last renovated before the mid-1980s, bonded asbestos cement is probably somewhere in it. The most common materials we remove are:

  • Asbestos cement roof sheeting (corrugated "Super Six" profile)
  • Eaves linings and soffit sheets
  • External "fibro" wall cladding
  • Internal wall and ceiling sheets, especially in wet areas
  • Asbestos cement fence panels
  • Garden sheds and lean-to roofs
  • Vinyl tiles and bitumen flooring containing asbestos
  • Textured ceilings (occasional)

When homeowners typically call us

  • Renovation planning. Builder needs ACM removed before they can open up walls or strip a roof.
  • Pre-purchase inspection. Building inspector flagged suspected ACM; vendor or buyer wants it gone before settlement.
  • Storm or impact damage. Hail through an old roof, tree limb through eaves, accidental gardening damage to a fence.
  • Compliance for insurance / refinance. Insurer or lender wants documented removal of suspected ACM.
  • Peace of mind. You've found something during routine work and want it tested and dealt with properly.

Residential asbestos removal — FAQs

What does residential asbestos removal cost? +
Cost depends on the material, area, access, and disposal volume. As a guide, small jobs (an eaves section, a fence run, a small shed) often sit in the few-hundred-dollar range; full house roofs scale up. Every Elite quote is written, itemised, and includes disposal — no surprise add-ons.
Do I have to leave the house? +
For external work (roof sheets, eaves, fences, sheds) you can usually stay on site, outside the controlled work zone. For internal removals — wall sheets, vinyl tiles, ceiling sheets — we recommend vacating the affected rooms while work and clearance are completed.
How long does a typical home job take? +
Most residential bonded removals are completed in a single day. Larger jobs (full house roofs, multi-area internal works) typically run two to three days. Demolition jobs with ACM run longer — we'll confirm timeline in the written quote.
Can I legally remove asbestos from my own home? +
In Queensland, a homeowner can remove up to 10 square metres of bonded (non-friable) asbestos from their own residential property without a licence. Friable asbestos cannot be removed by a homeowner under any circumstances. We do not recommend DIY removal — the disposal logistics, exposure risk, and lack of clearance documentation usually outweigh any cost saving.
What about my neighbours? +
For external removals, we typically notify adjoining neighbours before work starts as a courtesy, set up clear exclusion zones, and choose still-weather windows where possible to minimise fibre dispersal risk. This is included in our standard site preparation — you don't need to organise it.
What paperwork do I get? +
Written quote and scope, asbestos control plan, clearance certificate where required, and disposal receipts from the licensed facility. This is the paperwork conveyancers, insurers, and councils ask to see if it ever comes up.

  • Phone scope first — we'll ask the right questions
  • Free site visit if it needs to be seen
  • Written, itemised quote — no obligation
